Hello and welcome to my little corner of the web (one of them anyway!). 🙂

My name is Yuwanda Black and I’m a writer, which allows me to be a mobile entrepreneur. As long as I have an internet connection, I can work from anywhere. I earn a living writing for clients; writing and self-publishing my own line of fiction and non-fiction ebooks; creating and teaching e-courses; and blogging (affiliate marketing).

Note: Get the ebook “Write, Earn, Travel,” which details exactly how I make my living online. Click here or on the “Click Here to Get This Free Info” yellow box located up top to the right on every page of the site. It will be sent to you immediately — and again, it’s totally free!

Here’s Our Mission: What the Site Is All About

Make Money Writing … for Yourself and for Others

My Businesses

New Media Words is my SEO content writing company.  As a recognized authority in the SEO writing niche, I’ve provided SEO content to firms in the U.S., England, Ireland, Canada and Australia, to name a few.

Online Course Developer & Instructor

InkwellEditorial.Teachable.com is my online writing school. It’s where you’ll find all of my writing courses. I’ve also hundreds of freelancers how to start successful online writing careers via my SEO writing courses and books.

I have self-published over 50 e-books on freelance writing and small business; and authored hundreds of articles on the business of freelance writing.

My traditionally published book, “The Ultimate Freelancer’s Guidebook,” (Simon & Schuster) can be found in bookstores, and on Amazon and other major online outlets.

Blogger/Affiliate Marketer

GetaMobileCareer.com is my affiliate marketing site.

It’s a simple one-page site where you sign up — yep, it’s free! — to learn how to build a mobile business that allows you to live and work from anywhere … like I do. I’m American, but currently live and work from the Caribbean (Jamaica).

My Professional Background/Credentials

I have been in publishing since 1987 and a freelance writer since 1993. I’ve been on both sides of the hiring desk as an editorial professional.

I worked in legal publishing in New York City as a copy editor and Publishing Operations Specialist from 1987-1997 (Matthew Bender / LexisNexis). I also owned/operated Inkwell Editorial, an editorial staffing and recruiting agency in New York, from 1996-2004. I repositioned the business as an online information portal for editorial and creative professionals (primarily freelance writers) in December 2004.

While heading Inkwell Editorial as a staffing agency, I developed and co-taught a Chicago-style copy editing course, which was attended by individuals and Fortune 500 executives alike. I also created and taught a web development and marketing course at Borough of Manhattan Community College in New York City.

A long-time, serial entrepreneur, I have been featured in numerous magazines, newspapers and online outlets, among them: Entrepreneur.com’s small business magazine Be Your Own Boss; Black Issues Book Review magazine (Sept-Oct 2004 issue); Savoy Professional magazine (Spring 2005 issue); The Chicago Tribune; and The Wall Street Journal’s RealEstateJournal.com, to name a few.

I have an AA in English, a BA in Sociology (Hunter College, NYC) and completed one year of course study towards an MA in Criminal Justice at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. I have also been a small business/entrepreneurial adviser and self-syndicated small business columnist. My small business column, EntrepreDoer, appeared in six publications across the United States.
