Over the last 18 months, I’ve tripled the traffic on InkwellEditorial.com. And the funny thing is, I didn’t realize it until recently. What can you learn from me to help you increase your website’s traffic? You be the judge. . . here’s how I did it.
1. Site redesign: One of the best business moves I ever made was investing in getting a professional site redesign. I took InkwellEditorial.com from HTML to Wordpress.
Not only is the design way more professional (thanks Harry at Men with Pens!), it’s made updating the site easier as well. For example, instead of uploading one static page at a time in HTML, now when I upload a new post in the Wordpress design, the whole site is automatically udpated.
Wordpress has also made InkwellEditorial.com more interactive because it has plugins like “Recent Posts” and “Related Posts.” These features were not available in the HTML format. Hence, readers hang around the site longer.
The longer readers are on the site, the more likely they are to find something they like – and share it via social media outlets like Twitter, which brings me to my next point . . .
