Ebook Publishing: How to Write an Ebook in 3 Days, Market It & Start Getting Sales within a Week

Think ebook publishing is hard? Want to write an ebook but can never seem to make time to finish (or start)? If so, Inkwell Editorial’s Ebook (Writing) Creation Tournament is for you?

What is this Ebook Publishing & Writing Tournament all About?

Quite frankly, it’s to prove to you how easy it is to write an ebook and start promoting it. In the tournament (which starts tomorrow), you will write an ebook in 3 days, write its marketing plan, upload it and get a sale within 10 days. At least that’s the goal.

Unsolicited Testimonial

The ebook I wrote for the tourney is still selling well. Thanks to your tournament I’ve hit the jackpot. Funny how it turns out isn’t it? I can spend weeks working on a book and it sells ok, and then I rush to do one in 3 days and it’s turning out to be one of my best selling ebooks (if it keeps going) and apart from when I was actually doing the tourney and trying to get a sale quickly, I haven’t marketed it at all.~Tourney Participant #32

How Does It Work? What are the Rules of this Ebook Publishing Tournament?

First, there are no official rules. If you sign up (it’s absolutely free), I will send out an email of what I did that day on my ebook, as will other participants. Right now, there are about a dozen 20 of us.

Because I’ve written so many ebooks over the years, many have asked me how I do it. And as I’ve responded many times, it’s really not hard. You see, I may think about a book for months (or sometimes a couple of years) before I write it.   When I DO write, I tend to finish in about a week. So, I’m going to let you follow what I do so you can do the same (and hopefully finish within the same timeframe).

Note: There are no formal lessons or instruction for this tournament. And, although I had said I wouldn’t cover the mechanics, I will go over some, eg, how to convert your ebook to a .pdf file (I’ll tell you the FREE pdf software I use), how to write a sales page, how to put together a marketing plan for it, whether or not to do a website, etc.

Ebook Publishing: Create Your First Information Product to Sell

ebook The title of my ebook is, “How to Write an Ebook in 3 Days or Less, Market It & Get Your First Sale Within 7 Days

I’ve been wanting to write this ebook for a while (it’s on my list of 75 titles, a tally I keep of all the subjects I want to write about). This is the perfect opportunity to get this sucker out of me – finally!

How to Sign Up to this Ebook Publishing & Writing Tournament

All you have to do to take part in this ebook writing tournament is let me know you want to participate [send an email to info[at]inkwelleditorial.com] with “Ebook Tourney” in subject line].

I (and the other participants) will act as your “accountability partner” of sorts. I’ll email you every day letting you know what I did on my book, and you can email me back letting me know what you did. You don’t have to tell me the details of your book or anything else; just that you’re making progress on a daily basis, and will complete your ebook – and its written marketing plan within 3 days.

Then, you’ll implement the plan and let me know when you get your first sale (the goal is within 7 days after finishing the writing).   The tournament will run October 12th thru October 22nd. I’m going to keep a live page on InkwellEditorial.com detailing who participants are (you can remain anonymous) and the progress they’re making. That way, we can all become accountability partners to each other.

Don’t Start Writing Now!

Even though I’ve been thinking about writing this ebook for some time now, I’m not going to “cheat” and start before tomorrow (not even an outline).  I want you to see that it’s totally possible to start – and finish – an ebook in 3 days or less (I wrote the highly popular Free Classified Ads Sales Guide (aka the Backpage Sales Guide) in only 8 hours), which is why I want you to start thinking about what you want your ebook to be about now. BUT, don’t write one word until tomorrow.

Scouts honor, ok?

    1. I think it’s an excellent to point out that you think before you write. You think for months or even years before you write. This is crucial to a beginning writer to understand.

I think there is a dangerous and growing assumption that a writer writes, and writes, and writes, and only writes – especially when dealing with clients that expect quality work for around $0.10 a word. Again, this is fine if the writing is about a topic where you can literally sit down and be limited only by your typing speed. But for different projects that require a different set of expertise, and depending on the audience…it get to be a bit more complex.

I’ll shut up now. (Whew!) 🙂 But, thank you, for mentioning the thought that is required before the action!

    2. Barbara,

Thank you for your kind words. They meant the world to me, especially when I’d log on all bleary-eyed at 11 pm to do the daily update.

Sometimes, your encouraging words waiting for me were just the “jolt of inspirational java I needed to know that what I/we were doing here is something special — and helpful to so many.

Good luck with finishing, and let me know when you do.

      Best,
      -Y
