Freelance Writing Job Hunting Advice: Cover Letter Do’s and Dont’s

In today’s troubled economy, many people are looking for jobs. Some are looking for full-time employment, some have taken the plunge into freelancing and yet stilll othres have created hodge-podge careers where they do both.

No matter which position you find yourself in, there are some rules you should follow when it comes to cover letters that will improve your chances of landing freelance work, or a full-time job. And, that’s what this ”Throwback Thursday” post addresses.

FYI, these are from first-hand experience. If you’re a regular site reader, then you know that I owned an editorial staffing agency in New York City from 1996-2004. I’ve recruited for hundreds of positions and have literally waded through thousands of resumes and cover letters.

So read on for some cover letter do’s and dont’s. It could bring you that much closer to landing freelance writing jobs, or finding that great-paying 9 to 5 you’re seeking.
